From 28-year old Block Paving to Resin Bound Driveway in Bicester, Oxfordshire
M&C Paving installed this block paved driveway 28 years ago. When the customer called to ask about updating to resin, we were glad to help. You can see from the picture, other than needing a bit of a clean, this driveway was still going strong 28 years after we installed it. No sinking or any other issues.
We installed the new resin driveway with a warm buff aggregate blend resin bound surface to complement the brick frontage. Completed in two days.

Questions Worth Asking Any Driveway Company
The driveway industry has a reputation, not always a good one. We'd rather you asked the hard questions before booking anyone, including us.
How do I know the groundwork will be done properly?
The honest answer: ask to see photos from previous jobs, not just the finished surface, but the sub-base before it was covered over. We document the groundwork on every job. We can show you what the correct excavation depth looks like, what a well-compacted base looks like, and why it matters. Better still: we have driveways in this area that we installed almost 30 years ago still in excellent condition. No sinking. No drainage problems. That's the answer.
The quotes I've had are miles apart, why?
Different specs. A quote that skips proper excavation or uses inadequate base material will naturally be cheaper, and will naturally fail sooner. When we quote, we explain exactly what's included: depth of dig, type and depth of base material, drainage falls, edging. That way you can compare like for like. The difference between a good quote and a cheap one is almost always underground.
Will it still look good in a few years?
It should, and it will if the groundwork is done correctly. We back every job with a 10-year written guarantee specifically against sinking and drainage problems. Those are the two things that make a driveway look bad after a few years, and both are entirely preventable when the base is done right. Do I need planning permission?
For most residential driveways, no, as long as the surface is permeable. Resin bound surfacing and certain block paving installations drain water through the surface naturally, which satisfies the permitted development requirements in most cases. We'll confirm the specific position for your property at the quoting stage.
